Imagine a sparring match. Imagine two fighters facing each other. Let’s look into the background of each of these fighters. The first trains everyday and for hours each day. Whenever he trains. He focuses on what he’ s doing, however, even though he occasionally does make progress and enjoys his training, he just seems to drift along in it and is not nearly at the level he should be with the amount of time and energy he puts in.

Police Officers - Training, Respect And Martial Arts

Despite tremendous personal risk thousands of brave men and women join the ranks of law enforcement every year. While most of the general public claims to support men and women in uniform, for the most part it is little more than talk.

Police officers have to deal with everything from irate citizens to terrorists, and any number of strange and violent incidents which no other civilian occupation encounters. Millions are spent to train police officers, but they still don’t receive the expert training that they need. Weapons and combat martial arts training have been cut to reduce budgets and to make room for “sensitivity” training. This lack of training has resulted in an increased level violence in our streets, and increased criticism of the police.

Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, a West Point psychology professor, Professor of Military Science, and author “On Combat”, explains that there are three kinds of people in this world.

First are the sheep who live in ignorance and only want to enjoy life’s pleasures.

Then there are the wolves; those who prey on the sheep (criminals, terrorists, bullies, etc.)

Finally there are the sheep dogs. That is, the people whom protects the sheep from the wolves (martial artists, police officers, soldiers, etc.).
